Gary grew up on the Southern California coast with an intense interest in art. This led him to travel Europe extensively studying the old masters.
Throughout the 1970's, Gary displayed his works in several shows, including the prestigious Laguna Beach Festival of Art and the All California Show.
From 1980-1993 Gary devoted himself to the commercial art field as Design/Illustrator. This enabled him to work in many mediums; watercolor, gouche, and oils, as well as 3 dimensional structures.
Upon moving to Colorado in 1993, Gary became inspired to turn his attention soley to oil painting. His landscapes have been well received and now hang in many private collections, including that of: Colorado State Senator Tillman Bishop, Ted Turner, Christine Walton, Jane Fonda, Abi Garaman (National Chairman Arts for the Parks, The Montgomery Museum of Fine Art, Grand Junction City Hall, and St. Mary's Hospital and Regional Center.

Artist's Statement:
"As a artist, I am inspired by the creation around me to reflect the hope that I see. An example of this would be a tree casting a lone shadow from an unseen light source or a path leading you over a hill and beyond. I find that diffused light in the morning and evening, or after a passing storm, creates the most suitable atmosphere for the mood I want to convey, while lending a sense of spirituality and peace. Each day presents new challenges. I want my paintings to always be fresh and diverse and I choose my color palate to reflect that." |
